On the westcoast oft the Mediterranean Island of Elba located at (Localitá) Patresi, municipality of Marciana tucked in a small row of houses, called „Il Mortaio“ . On the map to the left, Patresi is noted as La Guardia. It is a 45 Minute drive away from the island`s port of arrival Portoferraio. The ferry from Italy mainland leaves the port of Piombino. The crossing takes one hour and during the season the boats leave every 30 minutes. The
western part of Elba is dominated by Monte Capanne, a mountain of approx. 1000 m and the highest on Elba. Most of the land surrounding it constitutes the National Park, making this the quietest and least touristic part of the island. New construction is rarely allowed and the renovation of old houses underlies tight restrictions, to safeguard the unique flair of this beautiful place.

From the property in „Il Mortaio“ , approx 150m above sea level, the closest beach is a rocky one with the name of „Cala di Patresi“, a 20 minute down hill footwalk away. The ride in the car takes five minutes and in summer there is a local public transport called „Marebus“. There is a bar and the possibility to rent deck chairs and sombrellas, public WC and shower facilities, the place also caters for the storage of smaller boats, boat slide into the bay available. The swimming area is protected, the water crystal clear and immediately 2 to 3 m deep. A sandy children friendly beach is a 15 minute car ride away at Sant Andrea, equally attainable via the public transport. Little Patresi has all of one restaurant and two small hotels. The next possibility for every day food supplies is in Zanca or Colle d’Orano, both villages a 5 minute drive away. Picturesque Sant Andrea, and
the magical medieval towns of Marciana and Poggio offer a
range of restaurants and hotels. The beautiful port of Marciana Marina 20 min by car hosts the next supermarket, a Yacht club, great shopping and further dining or hotels.
